I’m Matthieu Chabert, a full-stack engineer based in Nantes, France. I’m passionate about software as a tool to elevate people.
Seven years ago, I learned to code with Python and Django when building my first SaaS.
Even though working alone brought me skills that weren’t strictly related to coding, like customer support and marketing, I went on to work for a Parisian tech company because I missed working with human beings 🫂.
For 4 years, I worked as a full-stack engineer with Elixir on interesting projects involving Phoenix, Liveview, Nerves, Postgres, etc.
Last summer, I started to work for a Swiss early stage startup called Marko, where we build the future of secondhand shopping. This is my current day job!
I'm not actively looking for a new position, but I couldn't let this opportunity pass.
Here's a list of tasks I was involved in, in the last few months:
I want to help spread the word 📣
I'm a generalist, even more so after seven years as a full-stack engineer. I like to understand how everything works in relation to each other. I worked to various degrees on frontend, mobile, backend and with databases.
In my spare time, I like to try new tech to stay up to date, the latest being Liveview Native and Gleam.
I believe this would help greatly providing answers and technical advice to ElectricSQL developers.
I've always worked remotely, and know how to communicate effectively. I love to explain how the tech side works to other people, especially simplifying complex subjects.
I'm often the intermediary between users and domain expert to translate each other language and needs.
One of the things I miss the most in my early career, is that I haven't contributed much to open source even though we rely on it for every piece of software. I want to fix that and contribute to open source.
I did contribute a little to the Phoenix Storybook .
Additionally, I've been working on a podcast dedicated to exploring Africa, a continent I've traveled to on and off over the past year.
And when I'm not behind my laptop, you can find me either at sea, or cycling.
Even though AI is a fantastic tool, ChatGPT was not involved on this page.
Thank you for reading and I'm looking forward to your response.
